After the German Bundestag election of Sept. 26, 2021, I joined forces with Constanze Stelzenmüller and Hans-Helmut Kotz to analyse the outcome. Based on the (somewhat surprising, at least from a long-term perspective) outcome of the SPD coming in first place, I predicted a traffic light coalition led by Olaf Scholz. This was the least unpopular among the available majority options; but it seemed complex, with discrepancies among the potential partners strongest in the field of economic and fiscal policy.
